Can’t get enough of his infectious laughter? Enjoyed the many youtube clips of him scaring the crap out of pets and small children or indeed causing them to laugh until they hurl green stuff out their face? Well you will be pleased to know that there is a new special edition of Tickle Me Elmo coming out for Chrimbo.
At first we were rather under whelmed as it was listed that the special edition comes with a gold badge. Whoop! What joy, a badge and “special edition” tag on it. But then we were informed that the new special edition T.M.X toy has some secrets. Read the rest

UPDATE: Seems we were informed wrongly. This is actually regarding the iPod TOUCH not the iPhone, though it is highly likely that it will actually break you into both devices. Either way it is about the version 1.1.2 firmware which HAS been hacked. You can get the direct dish over at TUAW. Our original coverage remains below for a little extra enjoyable reading.
The Brits have their release of the iPhone today and most were worried that the new iPhone firmware was going to mean they are pinned to O2 like a tail on a donkey for the foreseeable future.
Well it looks like they will for a few days, maybe less, but if you own an iPod Touch then you need not worry your noggins any longer as that crazy Erica Sadun just announced that the new version of the Firmware for the iPhone iPod Touch (version 1.1.2) has already been hacked like a Piñata.
If you want to check out the details and hack the 1.1.2 firmware on your iPhone iPod Touch then simply head over to TUAW for the juicy goodness.

Ever wondered what a collaborative social network site might look like? Yes, we know that is pretty much the definition of every social network out there, but this one looks to be a little different from it’s older brothers.
BAAGZ makes good use of the Search By Serendipity technology that currently powers exalead.com. Essentially it is a form of social site that represents the first live network of shared interests. These shared interests are characterized by the public content contained within individual folders, called “baagz”. These act as shortcuts to favourite Web sites, articles, pictures, videos, RSS feeds and notes. Read the rest

Ever felt a little chilly when diving in the depths of the deep blue / brown giant water tank known as our oceans? Well Rip Curl have decided that no longer should we have to return to the surface for some warm rays to heat us up as they have just launched a new wet suit known as the H-Bomb.
Don’t be fooled by it’s name, it doesn’t explode or doing anything overly dramatic that would help you escape from a shark. No, this suit is self heating! Read the rest

Celebrities should not be endorsing things like USB pen drives. Should they? Ok, perhaps we exaggerated a little in the title with the word ‘huge’ but seriously, Jennifer Lopez has put out a USB pen drive!
Now if it stopped at being a drive, we would continue to bash her for it. However, it actually comes in a cool wood look finish and includes her latest album “Brave” on it. Personally we think this is a sad attempt to make money while having the appearance of “reaching out” to the youff of today. Not cutting any slack with us, but the J-Lo obsessives are bound to be jumping all over this like a flea on a trampoline.
The product sounds fine until you get to the $70 weight of a price tag hanging around it’s neck. At that point, a copy of her CD plus a no name drive will be a much better purchase, plus you can store all your fake J-Lo porn shots on the drive while keeping the music on a handy CD that will easily Frisbee out of the car window at a moments notice.

Anyone aware of Powerset will know that they have been busy blowing their air all over the place regarding their “coming soon” technology that is set to give the smack down to Google. As yet, only a select few know much about them and have had a chance to see their tech.
As of today a new company has opened it’s doors well ahead of Powerset. This new company is called True Knowledge and is seriously impressive. They are based in the UK, have some large funding and some seriously impressive technology. Read the rest

Yawn… Facebook this and Facebook that. Ever wonder why so many people use it? Because it is talked about and because most people (not you of course) are ’sheeple’ and have to follow the masses for fear of being an outcast.
A prime example of how being talked about simply makes things important is the recent trouble with Oink and the raids. Even though the powers at be wanted to shut it down and help close off some more P2P kiddzz they have instead pointed the spot light on the whole thing and spawned a number of groups setting up replacements and thus actually growing the P2P ‘issue’ that the big cigar smokers don’t like. Do we really need another online music site trying to jimmy it’s way into the already tightly packed music arena? NPR think so. The key here is that they may actually have a few unique and interesting features that could set them apart from the pack. Either that or the big music bastards *cough* itunes *cough* will steal the ideas and pass them off as their own. Either way the service is worth a look even if you are not a yank or indeed a music lover as some of the ideas behind the tech are interesting.
Specific sections of the site are dedicated to rock/pop/folk, classical, jazz/blues, world and urban music. In each genre, program and subject area, users can explore NPR’s and the stations’ music news; intimate interviews and studio sessions with artists and bands; NPR’s and stations’ national and regional web concerts; reviews and news; original blogs from critics, experts and artists; and podcasts.
